Ordinary Time
Sometimes I forget…
That his grace is sufficient for me,
That it’s deeper and wider than I can conceive:
His grace is sufficient for me.
Jennifer Knapp, “His Grace Is Sufficient”
The Holy Spirit affirms this when saying,
This is the covenant that I will make with them. After these days, says the Lord, I will place my laws in their hearts and write them on their minds. And I won’t remember their sins and their lawless behavior anymore.
When there is forgiveness for these things, there is no longer an offering for sin.
Brothers and sisters, we have confidence that we can enter the holy of holies by means of Jesus’ blood, through a new and living way that he opened up for us through the curtain, which is his body, and we have a great high priest over God’s house.
Hebrews 10:15-21
My son is two and a half, and he is going through the terrible twos in FULL force. One moment, he’s a snuggly little angel, crawling into my lap to read books. The next moment, I’ve just been pinched or whacked in the face, and he’s running off laughing.
As much as I try to keep cool (after all, he’s only two), it’s hard to stay calm after getting hit in the face. If he can’t calm down, I put him in a time-out. If I can’t calm down, I put myself in time-out. After time apart, we try again. He crawls back into my lap, and I forget all about his sins and lawless behavior from a moment ago. Of course, I still want to place a few laws in his heart and write them on his mind (like “Don’t hit people in the face”), but my anger is gone, and all I feel is love. As I wrap my arms around him, I think about God, who loves us as a mother, and whose love is more powerful than any wrong we could ever do.

Question to Ponder:
Can you remember a time when someone forgave you with love?
God, it can be so hard to keep your laws in my heart and mind.
Today, guide me to remember…
Please forgive my sins, and help me live the life that you want for me. Amen.
If God is for us, who is against us?
