Pause

It's always nice to go to a place where you feel comfortable and at home. But it's another thing to leave a sense of well-being and venture into the unknown.

Jesus calls us to be with him, but his call is also to go, to move into areas that are unfamiliar and even foreboding.

Still, it is good to remember that Jesus' promise is to be with us no matter where we roam. That promise holds for you now.

Listen

"Whenever you enter a town and its people welcome you, eat what is set before you; cure the sick who are there, and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.'"

Luke 10:8-9

Think

We have all been to school, and in that wonderful place there are guidelines and rules that all must follow. These rules and guidelines help each of us understand the ways we must act. However, some of the rules display ways in which we can do our work more proficiently.

In today’s passage, Jesus gives the 70 guidelines for the task that is set before them. The main rule is, if you are welcomed or accepted, then you must “cure the sick and say to them that the Kingdom of God is near.”

As we go into this world today and are welcomed and accepted by so many, we also must seek to cure sadness with laughter. Heal anger with happiness and, after you finish these works, remember to share God’s message with all that you meet.

Pray

Lord, give me the courage and the understanding that I need when sharing your love and your message with all that I meet. Amen.

Go

Go.

Go where you are needed.

Go where you will find God –
In the eyes and
In the faces
Of God's beloved ones.

This is where you are being sent.

This is where you will find your work and,
Eventually,
Where you will find yourself again at home.
