Ordinary Time

Pause

Discovery is about exploring to find something new. On the road of discovery you may find a new world, a new perspective, a new person, or a new idea about the world.

God may have a good surprise in store for you today.

So, let us begin a journey of discovery. Let us seek out the goodness of God in this world. Let us take time to think about what "good" means to us. Let us praise God, for God is good.

Listen

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:4-7

Think

What if they don’t like me? What if I am not good enough? What if I can’t do it? What if they laugh? What if she doesn’t come back? What if I don’t make the cut? What if…?

The worries and “what ifs” of this world can steal the peace that God has for us. God’s peace is good. It feels good. It enables us to think clearly and hear God. Peace is one of the good things God promises us in the Kingdom of Heaven. We discover this peace when we talk to God.

You are invited to tell God everything. Tell God your deepest fears. Tell God what you want and what you are hiding from. Ask God for what you need. Write it in a letter, say it on your knees, sing it in a song, do whatever you need to do. Then trust that God is good and wants good things for you. Give it to God today and accept the peace that goes beyond all understanding.

Pray

God, I rejoice in your peace. I rejoice in your goodness. I give you all my worries and needs. I trust in your goodness. Amen.

Go

Go out into the world looking for the goodness of God.

Go out with the courage and faith to trust in God’s goodness.

Go out with an open mind and heart.

You may discover something new.
