Ordinary Time
Take a deep breath. Take another one. In this moment, God extends an invitation to you, yes, you! Get ready to respond to God’s invitation to quench your spiritual thirst. Get ready to drink.
Certainly the faithful love of the Lord hasn’t ended; certainly God’s compassion isn’t through! They are renewed every morning. Great is your faithfulness. I think: The Lord is my portion! Therefore, I’ll wait for him.
The Lord is good to those who hope in him, to the person who seeks him. It’s good to wait in silence for the Lord’s deliverance.
Lamentations 3:22-26
With everything going on in the world today, we need love more than ever. Senseless never-ending wars, divisions based on religious or political ideals, and hatred being spewed against particular people groups are but a few examples of what is wrong with our world today.
In 2003 the pop group, The Black Eyed Peas, released a song called “Where Is the Love?” The song evaluated society at the time, and the recurring question from all they saw was, “Where is the love?” That same question persists today. Love is not going to magically appear out of thin air and make the world better. We must be the love we want to see in the world.
When we drink of the living water of God’s love, we are empowered to spread that love wherever we find ourselves. Now instead of asking, “Where is the love?”, we are actively working as agents of God’s steadfast love, making the world better.
James Blay
Question to Ponder:
How can you be an agent of God’s love today?
Loving God, give me the strength and desire to spread your love today and always. I especially need strength to spread love when…
Amen.
Go spread the word. All who are thirsty, all who are yearning for welcome and belonging, all who need to feel loved and experience grace, come to the fountain of Jesus and drink.
