Ordinary Time
Let us pay attention to what we can see and what we cannot see; what we can feel and touch, what we can hear and smell. God manifests in many different ways in our lives.
As Jesus continued on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at a kiosk for collecting taxes. He said to him, “Follow me,” and he got up and followed him. As Jesus sat down to eat in Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners joined Jesus and his disciples at the table.
Matthew 9:9-10
Sometimes, when we are with people who are not part of our circle of friends, we try to act in a certain way, and we are compared to people who are not well seen in the eyes of others.
At times, we can commit the same fault. We form opinions about other people without really knowing them, and we limit our view of them and who they can be. It is important to remember that Jesus includes everyone. This should help us to mature in the way of inclusion, open paths for other people, and recognize that we are all equal in God’s eyes.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that each person should know the value they have. With love, God has created a diverse world for us to know and learn from each other. There is a phrase that says, “Tell me who you walk with, and I’ll tell you who you are.” This phrase does not always apply. We cannot judge, because we cannot know everything about a person.

Question to Ponder:
What can we do from now on instead of pigeonholing a person we don’t know well?
God of love and truth, help me to see all people equally. May I learn to be renewed as a new creature in you. I pray in your name. Amen.
Go into the world with an open heart to receive the goodness of God and share what you learn day by day. May the blessing of God guide and enlighten you today and always!
