Ordinary Time

Pause

Pause and imagine! “The Spirit of God and the Word of God are the fuel of your imagination. The key to the strongest and healthiest imagination is a daily quiet time.”

-Rick Warren

Listen

You teach me the way of life. In your presence is total celebration. Beautiful things are always in your right hand.

Psalm 16:11

Think

I would love to visit the national forests to hike, but the thought of getting lost in the thousands of acres makes me anxious. I would be able to familiarize myself with the area, carry items with me to help me stay oriented, and stay on the marked trails. Still, for me, it would not be enough. In other words, I want to have the opportunity to place my trust and confidence in someone who can offer me guidance and assistance if I need it.

In Psalm 16, David affirms that he prefers God as a guide in the path of his life and that in God’s presence he finds fullness of joy. He highlights his way of living as one fully committed to God, resulting in a secure, happy, and blessed life. He recognizes that it won’t always be easy. The psalm serves as an invitation for us to enjoy eternal life as a present gift, extending into eternity. With God as our guide, even amid life’s thickest forests, we can have direction, purpose, and joy. Go for the adventure!

Question to Ponder:

Is God your eternal compass or are you walking alone?

Pray

Eternal God, you are my refuge. Dispel my doubts and confusion. Guide my steps on the path you have chosen for me. Amen.

Go

Radiate God’s light and share God’s truth.

Live with dignity and attain God’s fullness.

Don’t settle, answer God’s call.

God will use you if only you say yes!
