Ordinary Time

Pause

One of the first Christians wrote, “There are two ways, one of life and one of death—and there is a great difference between these two ways.”

Today you face a choice about the way to live.

Listen

Who can live in your tent, Lord? Who can dwell on your holy mountain? The person who lives free of blame, does what is right, and speaks the truth sincerely; who does no damage with their talk, does no harm to a friend, doesn’t insult a neighbor; someone who despises those who act wickedly, but who honors those who honor the Lord; someone who keeps their promise even when it hurts; someone who doesn’t lend money with interest, who won’t accept a bribe against any innocent person. Whoever does these things will never stumble.

Psalm 15:1-5

Think

Isn’t it wonderful when someone shows you that they love you? Through kind words, a special gift, or a big hug—life just feels better when we know that we are loved.

Many scriptures assure us that God’s love is perfect. God loves us more than any human ever could. But Psalm 15 reveals an important truth: to experience God’s love fully, we must live in God’s way. According to Psalm 15, this starts with basic decency: not saying hurtful things, telling the truth, not hurting those around us, and spending our time with the right people. The more we do what is right, the more we live in God’s presence and experience God’s love.

We don’t do these things to earn God’s love. God already loves us more than we can imagine. Living in God’s way helps us experience God’s love that is already and always there.
