I give you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, so you also must love each other.

John 13:34

Listen

Brothers and sisters, you are loved by God, and we know that he has chosen you. We know this because our good news didn’t come to you just in speech but also with power and the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction. You know as well as we do what kind of people we were when we were with you, which was for your sake.

1 Thessalonians 1:4-5

Think

In the Navajo culture, the word Hozho means peace and balance, equivalent to walking the way of God—absolute harmony and connection to the world around you – but in different uses, it means so much more. Reading and meditating on scripture is a great starting point to help us find holiness in our lives.

The Bible is translated into hundreds of languages, and in each cultural context, the translated words hold so much meaning, feeling, and emotion. The Bible has a special message; it changes as we age to help us apply it to our lives and show us the love of God. As Paul writes, the good news comes to us in words infused by strength and deep conviction. Words have the power to make change and give hope.

Question to Ponder:

What is holiness to me?

Pray

Creator God, thank you for your creation and abundance in nature.

Thank you for words spoken in hundreds of languages. Your word brings all humanity salvation, hope, love, and tenderness.

Give me an open mind to hear the message for my heart to hear and feel.

Amen.

I give thanks to you with all my heart, Lord. I sing your praise before all other gods. I bow toward your holy temple and thank your name for your loyal love and faithfulness because you have made your name and word greater than everything else. On the day I cried out, you answered me. You encouraged me with inner strength.
