I give you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, so you also must love each other.

John 13:34

Listen

You became imitators of us and of the Lord when you accepted the message that came from the Holy Spirit with joy in spite of great suffering. As a result you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. The message about the Lord rang out from you, not only in Macedonia and Achaia but in every place. The news about your faithfulness to God has spread so that we don’t even need to mention it.

1 Thessalonians 1:6-8

Think

As we get older, we begin to explore the world and form ideas on what or who we would like to be most like. We see people on TV, on social media, in the news, or in our towns and cities making a difference. We find people we look up to and aspire to be like. We look to these role models to show us how they overcame trials in life and get tips on how we can be inspired to be that overcomer in our family and community. They drive us to do the work and show us the possibilities of hard work.

That is Faith – faith in ourselves and faith in God to help us overcome so we can make the world a better place. Like the Thessalonians, our faith is evident in the good we do and spread. We can spread the faith by helping others and encouraging good.

Question to Ponder:

What can I do to help spread faith?

Pray

Loving Creator God, sometimes I forget I can be a carrier of faith by showing love and attention.

Thank you for the gifts that I have that I may not even know about yet. And thank you for my family and friends who see them.

Help me share your love by giving me the strength to explore my gifts and talents to be a model of your work.

Amen.

Go

I give thanks to you with all my heart, Lord. I sing your praise before all other gods. I bow toward your holy temple and thank your name for your loyal love and faithfulness because you have made your name and word greater than everything else. On the day I cried out, you answered me. You encouraged me with inner strength.
