Ordinary Time
What’s on your mind today? What’s on your heart today?
Rest for a moment, opening your mind and heart, trusting that God cares and will lead you.
Praise the Lord!
Let my whole being praise the Lord! I will praise the Lord with all my life; I will sing praises to my God as long as I live.
Psalm 146:1-2
Head and shoulders, knees and toes! Head and shoulders, knees and toes! Eyes and ears and a mouth and a nose! Head and shoulders, knees and toes!
The year after I finished seminary, I found myself teaching preschool. One of my favorite parts of the day was when my three- and four-year-old students would sing silly songs like this. Giggles and wiggles abounded with their whole beings dedicated to following (the rather complicated for them) actions in the song, especially as we got faster and faster!
May we use our whole beings to praise the Lord today:
Heads thinking about God’s justice…
Shoulders sharing the weight of burdens other people are carrying…
Knees humbling in prayer, recognizing that we are imperfect…
Toes always at the ready to walk in service…
Eyes seeing those whom society marginalizes…
Ears listening, instead of imposing, so that we might be truly faithful in our actions.

Question to Ponder:
How can you live out your faith in praise today with your mind, body, and soul?
Loving God, you set me free from the binds and prisons I create. You open my eyes when I am blind to the needs of the world. You uplift those who are bowed down. You watch over those whom society has estranged. Thank you! Help me to live out my faith in action today in praise of your loving action of grace.
Amen.
May God’s compassion and faithful love guide all our actions today!
