Ordinary Time
Our faith communities help us see God at work in the world. Together we make up the body of Christ.
Breathe in and hear God affirm you as a beloved part of the body of Christ.
Breathe out and give thanks for being a part of the body of Christ.
“I assure you that whatever you fasten on earth will be fastened in heaven. And whatever you loosen on earth will be loosened in heaven. Again I assure you that if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, then my Father who is in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I’m there with them.”
Matthew 18:18-20
When we pray the Lord’s Prayer, we pray “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” We are praying that God’s kingdom and our reality here on earth become one and the same. But how do we know what that is?
In today’s reading, Jesus assures his disciples (and us) that we are not alone. In our faith communities we together discern God’s will for us. We listen to one another, pray with one another, and work with one another. It’s not always easy (remember yesterday’s reading about conflict), but we do know that when we are with others seeking to hear God’s call, God is also there.

Question to Ponder:
Can you think of a time when you were with others and knew with 100% certainty that God was present? How did you know? What did that feel like?
Dear God, thank you for the gift of community as I seek to do your will.
Thank you for always being there.
Amen.
What communities will you be involved in today?
Look for where God is present.
Is God nudging you to do something or to say something?
