Ordinary Time
“To have faith is to remember and wait, and to wait in hope is to have what we hope for already begin to come true in us through our hoping.”
– Frederick Buechner
Praise the Lord! Give thanks to the Lord because he is good, because his faithful love endures forever. Who could possibly repeat all of the Lord’s mighty acts or publicly recount all his praise?
Psalm 106:1-2
The same psalmist who, 20 or so verses later, recounts the golden calf story in this confession of the Hebrew people’s many years of living unfaithfully to their God, in these first two verses offers a beautiful hymn of praise to God. Instead of being full of wrath and anger (though there’s a lot of that in their story too) at their unfaithfulness, the psalmist reminds us that God is full of faithful, unending love for God’s people.
We need to sing our praise to God no matter where we are in our faith journey—from brand new followers of God, to feeling stuck in patterns of sin and unfaithfulness, to those times when we feel closest to God—because God is consistently faithful in God’s love for us, even when our faith and our faithfulness seem like a roller coaster ride.

Question to Ponder:
How do you praise God in different seasons of your faith?
God, I give you thanks and praise because you are good, because your love is unending, and because you are faithful, even when I am not. Amen.
Go, always remembering what our faithful God has done.
