Ordinary Time
Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me won’t walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
Take a moment to reflect about the ways you know Jesus provides light to your path.
Jesus traveled throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues. He announced the good news of the kingdom and healed every disease and sickness among the people.
Matthew 4:23
I use to get into arguments on social media about all kinds of things like the news, politics, religion. Sometimes, I would get so angry with people. My responses at times were even a bit vicious.
Conversations didn’t really progress; we just argued back and forth until one of us would just stop typing. It wasn’t positive. It wasn’t helpful. It wasn’t good for my soul. So a few years ago, I made a personal decision. I would only post positive things – good things. I decided that sharing good news, joys, and things that made people smile was better for my heart, my mind, my body, and my soul. And I would stop arguing.
Jesus brought good news. That’s what we’re to do as well, whatever platforms we are given to share it. Maybe you aren’t on social media, but maybe you can share the good news on your team, club, band, choir, or in your group of friends. It may even bring some healing as well to hearts that are overwhelmed with meanness and negativity. Share good news!

Jesus, I pray that I may bear good news, just as you did in your days.
Help me bring healing and mend wounds in whatever way I can be used — whether through my words or my hands.
Amen.
God places within each of us the light of life and love.
May that light warm you with God’s presence when you are alone.
May that light guide you when you can’t see the way.
May that light encourage you to shine brightly so that others might see the light God has placed within them.
