Ordinary Time

Pause

Amid life’s noise and distractions, take a moment to quiet your heart. Reflect on the gentle, steady ways God leads you:

Through creation, scripture, and the quiet nudges of the Spirit.

Are you aligning your path with God’s?

Listen

They read aloud from the scroll, the Instruction from God, explaining and interpreting it so the people could understand what they heard.

Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all of the people, “This day is holy to the Lord your God. Don’t mourn or weep.” They said this because all the people wept when they heard the words of the Instruction.

“Go, eat rich food, and drink something sweet,” he said to them, “and send portions of this to any who have nothing ready! This day is holy to our Lord. Don’t be sad, because the joy from the Lord is your strength!”

Nehemiah 8:8-10

Think

God’s word is impactful in shaping our lives. Our scripture for today reminds us not to dwell on sadness or regrets, but to embrace the joy of the Lord as our strength. This joy is not based on temporary things but on a relationship with God. Spend time daily reading and understanding the Bible. Surround yourself with others who encourage your walk with Christ.

When challenges come, remember that God’s joy sustains you. Trusting in God’s way leads to a meaningful life filled with hope and blessings. Embrace your identity in Christ. God’s instructions lead to genuine happiness and fulfillment, unlike the fleeting pleasures of the world. Just as the people rejoiced when they understood God’s word, we too can find joy when we seek to know God more. Life’s challenges will come, but anchoring our decisions in scripture will offer clarity and direction.
