Pause

Think of this for a moment: We are all foreigners in the kingdom of God. No one is native to the place where God reigns; we are all invited and, by grace, we are made citizens.

We do well to keep this in mind as we encounter every person along our way. Each of them is no more "the other" to God than we are.

This inclusive God invites you again today to stand in the Presence, to dwell in God's land.

Listen

Say among the nations, “The Lord is king! The world is firmly established; it shall never be moved. He will judge the peoples with equity.” Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it. Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy before the Lord; for he is coming, for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with his truth.

Psalm 96:10-13

Think

The Lord is king! We sing praises as we take time to remember that God has all supreme power and glory. Let us take time to rest in knowing that we have a loving God who has supreme power over all the earth.

Can you see it? The earth is rejoicing and praising today! Hear the waves roar in the sea and the trees dancing in the breeze. They are praising God. God created all these things and God created you. We are all connected through the One who created us. We are in this crazy world together, partners with all of the earth.

May you find peace and rest today. Take time to recognize God’s awesomeness and power, so you can be ready for tomorrow. Tomorrow we are called to continue to fight past the differences that keep us apart, that keep us separated, that keep us from loving one another. May we realize how our creator connects us today, so that tomorrow there are no more foreigners, only God’s family.

Pray

You are king! Let the earth rejoice! Grant me the knowledge and wisdom to see how we are all connected. Lord, bring our family together in your kingdom. Amen.

Travel through this day
Knowing there is no confining
The love of God,
And no borders to cross
Between you and God's presence.

Pray that your life might also be
So open
That God's love in you knows
No barriers,
Providing free passage for others.
