Ordinary Time
Think about those friends who know you best and longest.
Which friendships are the most precious to you?
What makes these friends so valuable?
Consider… God desires that sort of friendship with you!
Sing to the Lord a new song because he has done wonderful things! His own strong hand and his own holy arm have won the victory! The Lord has made his salvation widely known; he has revealed his righteousness in the eyes of all the nations. God has remembered his loyal love and faithfulness to the house of Israel; every corner of the earth has seen our God’s salvation.
Psalm 98:1-3
I recently “discovered” a “new” geography in Georgia. I was taking some renewal leave in Savannah, drove toward the coast, and – Shazam! – I saw this salt marsh, reedy type of landscape I had never seen. I had to pull off the side of the road to take a look. Combine that with the Spanish moss dangling from all the old growth oaks, and I had made a discovery! Now, I realize this wasn’t “new,” but it sure was new to me.
Isn’t it possible for God to show God’s handiwork in ways that are new to us too? The reality is that, if we really open our lives to the leading of God, we will find plenty of chances to pull off to the side, take a look at what God is doing, to marvel at it and give thanks.

God, you amaze me every day with the ways that you are at work, with the lives that are changed, with the world you have spoken into being. I pray that I would notice some of them today. Amen.
Go into your day knowing that even though God knows all about us, God still chooses to be our friend.
Be a friend of God today.
