Ordinary Time
Sometimes we forget how great God’s love is for us.
May you stop and remember that God loves you, God calls you, God counts on you, and you can count on God.
If I speak in tongues of human beings and of angels but I don’t have love, I’m a clanging gong or a clashing cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and I know all the mysteries and everything else, and if I have such complete faith that I can move mountains but I don’t have love, I’m nothing. If I give away everything that I have and hand over my own body to feel good about what I’ve done but I don’t have love, I receive no benefit whatsoever.
1 Corinthians 13:1-3
The attitude you assume before an action or decision makes a difference in you and your environment. The writer of 1 Corinthians describes how we can carry out the best actions but an attitude devoid of love causes those actions to be insignificant. You may have heard the expression that says, “It’s the thought that counts.” When you are intentional in your actions and decisions, the result will be enriched by that intention.
Have you ever asked yourself, with what intention do you do things? Why do you decide to serve, love, or share? Do you do it from your heart, or do you do it for others to see you? Having the intention to live is not the same as living with intention. So I invite you to reflect on your next three actions or decisions, recognizing the intention behind them.

Question to Ponder:
What attitude do you need to improve in order to live with intention?
God, thank you that you love me deeply. Help me to make intentional decisions for my benefit and the benefit of others. One decision I’m thinking about today is…
I trust your word and love to give me direction in all things.
Amen.
Walk in faith! When you don’t know which way to go, God’s love and God’s word will show you the way you should walk.
