Ordinary Time
“With great power comes great responsibility.”
Spider-Man
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more. There will be no mourning, crying, or pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. Then the one seated on the throne said, “Look! I’m making all things new.” He also said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Then he said to me, “All is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will freely give water from the life-giving spring.”
Revelation 21:4-6
How many times have you found it difficult to approach God because you think that your failures will make God reject you? The power of God’s love is reflected in the phrase: “I’m making all things new.” In my days as a perfectionist in video games, every time I got frustrated with a level, I would restart the game so it would not register my attempt, and I could achieve the perfection title (I confess my sin). When we read perfection in the Bible, it is less related to the idea of being faultless and closer to the idea of being complete. God is bringing everything to perfection, that is to say, to God’s fullness. There will be no death, no weeping, no mourning. God makes everything new.
Today is a good day to surrender all that troubles us before God and say: “Even with my faults I draw near to you, God. For I need you in my life and in my daily life. I know that you make everything new, and you will give me new opportunities to experience your grace.”
Juan Diego Rojas Miranda
Question to Ponder:
Do you believe that God can make everything new in your life?
Even with my faults I draw near to you, God. For I need you in my life and in my daily life. I know that you make everything new and will give me new opportunities to experience your grace. I surrender my burdens and anxieties, for you are with me. Today I am burdened by and anxious about…
Amen.
“I have decided to follow Christ,
my eyes fixed on the cross,
I will not turn back.”
