Ordinary Time

Slow, steady, deep inhale through the nose, hands on stomach to feel your belly rise.
Slower, steady, deep exhale through the mouth.

Repeat the breath and say FULLNESS as you breathe in.
Say PEACE as you breathe out.

Breathe in, FULLNESS. Breathe out, PEACE.

One more time, allowing your body to reflect your heart’s desire and mind’s focus to pause with the Holy One.

They feast on the bounty of your house; you let them drink from your river of pure joy.

Within you is the spring of life. In your light, we see light.

Extend your faithful love to those who know you; extend your righteousness to those whose heart is right.

Psalm 36:8-10

I can barely see without my contacts or glasses. I wonder if this is the same for you. People like us need help and luckily, that help involves a short doctor’s appointment and prescription to follow. It’s an easy fix to correct one’s vision. Spiritually speaking, there’s a difference between sight and vision. Sight involves the senses, and vision involves the spirit. And our spirits long for that which we cannot see with sight alone.

The psalmist captures the heart of the spirit when singing, “Within you is the spring of life. In your light, we see light.” No matter the current conflict, drama among friends and family, or disagreements in our local government and communities — no matter the conflict, we all share in common a deep longing for a full life. A life of goodness and truth, peace and love, companionship and joy. In the Christian faith, we trust that this spring of life is found in Jesus the Christ. So may we follow the Light, and find life.

You are the light of my life, a guide for my steps.

Help me to remain with you so that I can live into the purposes you have for me.

Use my life as a testimony of kindness and grace in a world that could use a lot more of it.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

May God the Creator bless you and keep you safe today.

May Jesus the Christ smile upon you and be gracious towards you.

May the Spirit of Life lead you in the path of wisdom and peace.

And all of God’s people say: Amen!
