Ordinary Time
Slow, steady, deep inhale through the nose, hands on stomach to feel your belly rise.
Slower, steady, deep exhale through the mouth.
Repeat the breath and say FULLNESS as you breathe in.
Say PEACE as you breathe out.
Breathe in, FULLNESS. Breathe out, PEACE.
One more time, allowing your body to reflect your heart’s desire and mind’s focus to pause with the Holy One.
But your loyal love, Lord, extends to the skies; your faithfulness reaches the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the strongest mountains; your justice is like the deepest sea. Lord, you save both humans and animals.
Your faithful love is priceless, God! Humanity finds refuge in the shadow of your wings.
Psalm 36:5-7
Staying indoors is nice. Soft blankets, that cozy spot on the couch, and snacks stocked in both fridge and pantry. Plus, that device in our hands. Staying indoors sure is nice.
Going outside requires effort. Acceptable attire (not pajamas), preferably showered, and a pleasant, social attitude – because nobody likes a grump. All of that takes effort, albeit minimal and on the most basic level. The reward, however, can be priceless.
In today’s passage, the psalmist directs our gaze towards the vastness of creation, comparing it to the immeasurable expanse of God’s loyal love. The skies, the clouds, the seas, the mountains — all of it. Nothing we made or deserve. All a gift and a source of praise, reminding us that the faithfulness of God has no limits, is constant, and is awe-inspiring like the expanse of nature.
COVID has impacted our society in significant ways. As we keep navigating through it, may we step outside and gaze upon the stunning beauty of creation to say, “Thank you, God. Thank you for your loyal presence and love.”

For the beauty of creation, I thank you.
For the reminder that your steadfast presence and loyal love are as vast as the skies and seas, I thank you.
For the very gift of today, I thank you.
All praise and glory be to your name, God. Thanks be to you and in Jesus’ name, amen.
May God the Creator bless you and keep you safe today.
May Jesus the Christ smile upon you and be gracious towards you.
May the Spirit of Life lead you in the path of wisdom and peace.
And all of God’s people say: Amen!
