Ordinary Time
Give thanks for the Lord because he is good, because his faithful love lasts forever.
Psalm 118:1
Don’t think to yourself, My own strength and abilities have produced all this prosperity for me. Remember the Lord your God! He’s the one who gives you the strength to be prosperous in order to establish the covenant he made with your ancestors—and that’s how things stand right now.
Deuteronomy 8:17-18
When I was in 3rd grade, I submitted an essay into a competition and won for my division. My fellow writers and I all had our essays published in a book that each of us received. It was such a wonderful moment in my young life, and it is a memory that I won’t forget.
Even though I was the one who wrote my essay, I was not the one who gave myself the gift of writing. God gives each of us special gifts and talents to help make the world a better place. Some of us are athletes, while others are bakers. Some of us are good with numbers, while others excel at writing.
Whatever your gift from God may be, be sure to give thanks to God for it. And then go and use your gifts and talents to change the world for the better. Happy American Thanksgiving!

Question to Ponder:
What gifts and talents in your life can you use to spread kindness in the world?
Holy Lord, thank you for giving me gifts and talents that are unique to me.
Help me to use my gifts and talents to make the world a better place.
Amen.
May the spirit of thanksgiving live within you,
not just during the season of thankfulness,
but from the time you rise in the morning
until the time you lay your head down at night.
May the name of the Lord be praised!
