Ordinary Time

Pause

Give thanks for the Lord because he is good, because his faithful love lasts forever.

Psalm 118:1

Listen

What I mean is this: the one who sows a small number of seeds will also reap a small crop, and the one who sows a generous amount of seeds will also reap a generous crop.

Everyone should give whatever they have decided in their heart. They shouldn’t give with hesitation or because of pressure. God loves a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:6-7

Think

Have you ever given someone a special gift? How did you feel when you gave it? Or have you ever received a special gift from someone? How do you think the person who gave you the gift felt? When we give a gift with a cheerful heart, it adds meaning and love to that gift. When a gift comes from the heart and when we truly care about how that gift will impact the person receiving it, the gift becomes special.

God wants us to give to others around us with a cheerful attitude. As Christians, we are to be the hands and feet of Jesus. And the hands and feet of Jesus were not gloomy. Be thankful that God has given you the opportunity and means to give to others and bless others around you in your own special way.

Pray

Oh Lord, help me to be a cheerful giver to others.

Allow me to bless others with a thankful heart and to help spread your love to others.

Amen.

May the spirit of thanksgiving live within you,

not just during the season of thankfulness,

but from the time you rise in the morning

until the time you lay your head down at night.

May the name of the Lord be praised!
