Ordinary Time
Remember that God’s mercy is new every morning. If one day you feel that you did not give your best or that you failed in one thing, do not be discouraged: God always gives you a new dawn full of opportunities and hope.
God’s handiwork is honesty and justice; all God’s rules are trustworthy—they are established always and forever: they are fulfilled with truth and right doing.
Psalm 111:7-8
Sometimes in life we feel that nothing is safe or that we cannot trust anyone. It’s hard when we put our trust in a person, tell them that we need help, and then they never show up for us in the difficult moments. But with God it is different: everything God does is faithful and just. God does not fail and always keeps promises.
God’s promise is a sign of God’s love that is constantly reflected in our days. Even when we forget to trust, God always reminds us of God’s covenant with us and takes care of us, as one who gives food to those who are dependent. For our young faith, this means we don’t need to have everything under control. We can rest in the knowledge that God works with justice and love, and that our lives are in God’s trustworthy hands. We can trust that God’s mercy is new every day.

Question to Ponder:
In what areas of my life do I need more trust that God is faithful and just?
God, thank you that you keep your promises and care for me every day. Thank you that your love and faithfulness never fail, and that you sustain me just as you care for the birds in the sky. Even though at times I may worry or feel afraid, I can trust that you provide what I need and protect me from all evil. Amen.
Go out today with a humble and willing heart. Remember that obeying God in the small things opens doors to the big things. Be light in your home, with your friends, and in every place where you are.
