Ordinary Time
Close your eyes, take a deep breath.
Prepare your mind and heart for what God wants to give you today.
Two men had remained in the camp, one named Eldad and the second named Medad, and the spirit rested on them. They were among those registered, but they hadn’t gone out to the tent, so they prophesied in the camp. A young man ran and told Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.”
Joshua, Nun’s son and Moses’ assistant since his youth, responded, “My master Moses, stop them!”
Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? If only all the Lord’s people were prophets with the Lord placing his spirit on them!”
Numbers 11:26-29
Have you ever thought you have talents and gifts to offer to the church and you feel that the church itself prevents you from using or developing them? I remember when I was young, I used to wonder if I had a place in the church I loved. Whenever we young people discussed with our leaders ways we could be part of worship, whether it was playing music we identified with or asking for one Sunday a month to be youth-focused, I felt like Eldad or Medad.
How can we do the good work, if the church itself sometimes hinders us? Thank God we do not only depend on a temple for the power of the Holy Spirit to manifest itself. In the same way God called Samuel and used him, God calls you and uses you. God calls us so that with our talents and gifts we can transform the church and the world. Don’t hold in low esteem the talent God has given you.

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord’s face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the eyes of God’s favor be upon you and may you do the work that God has put in you.
