The Lord is merciful and compassionate, very patient, and full of faithful love. The Lord is good to everyone and everything; God’s compassion extends to all his handiwork!

Psalm 145:8-9

The greatest blessing we can know is God. Faced with the immense responsibility of leading the people of Israel through the wilderness, Moses makes a bold request: “Let me see your glory” (Exodus 33:18). What happens in that place is a mystery. Still, the words God spoke while revealing God’s glory to Moses endure, words that the psalmist echoes in worship. In Exodus, God proclaims God’s kindness and compassion. We read those same ideas in our psalm for today.

God is tenderness, compassion, patience, and all love. God’s revealed character is a source of constant blessing that amazes us and moves us to worship God for who God is. It is from this unchanging nature that our trust in God’s blessing and provision springs: God is truly good and cares for us with tenderness.
