Journey to the Cross

Pause

“I seek you, I seek you.
With fire in my heart.
I seek you, I seek you.
Receive my adoration.
I long for you. I need you.
I love you more than my being.”

Marcos Witt, “Yo te busco” (I Look for You), on the album El Encuentro (The Meeting), 2002.

Listen

My plans aren’t your plans, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my plans than your plans.

Isaiah 55:8-9

Think

Sometimes, we cling to our ideas and plans, thinking that we know what is best for us. But God reminds us that God’s ideas, plans, and actions are above anything we can devise, plan, or do. This means that what God has for us is infinitely better than we can imagine. Even if sometimes we don’t understand why certain things happen or why God takes us down unexpected paths, we can trust that God’s plans are always better and superior.

When we face challenges, we can rest in the truth that God sees the big picture. God knows what we need and guides us with love. Instead of getting frustrated when something doesn’t go our way, we must learn to trust in the goodness and wisdom of God, who knows what is best.

Question to Ponder:

What does it mean to you that God’s ideas and way of acting are above your own?

Pray

God of all goodness, help me to trust that your plans are better than mine. Even if I don’t always understand them, I want to follow you in faith, knowing that you have what is best for me. Amen.

Go

The Lord who loves you reminds you in Jeremiah 29:13, “They will seek me and find me, for they will seek me with their whole heart.”
