Ordinary Time

Pause

Tell me the story of Jesus.
Write on my heart every word;
Tell me the story most precious,
Sweetest that ever was heard.

Fanny Crosby in "Tell me the story of Jesus" (1880)

Listen

Let me hear what the Lord God says, because he speaks peace to his people and to his faithful ones. Don’t let them return to foolish ways. God’s salvation is very close to those who honor him so that his glory can live in our land. Faithful love and truth have met; righteousness and peace have kissed.

Psalm 85:8-10

Think

Where do you go when you want to feel peaceful? Is it near water? Or just a room where you live? Why does it make you feel peaceful? Mine is my room at home. I love to lay in my bed and smell breakfast cooking and snuggle for a little longer on a Saturday morning.

Over the last year and a half, the world changed. Covid meant that everything looked very different for all of us. My college life was so different from what I had dreamed, as was the way I couldn’t hang out with friends. Who wasn’t stressed out by all the news and all the changes? Here is a tip: when life is challenging, find your peaceful place. Go and sit beside some water or in a park… and read the Psalms. God will speak peace to you. Faithful love and truth will meet you there.

Pray

God of Peace, help me to feel strengthened by your peace. Help me to be faithful to seek you out. Help me to know that you are here with me, even when my dreams feel threatened. Thank you that you are where I find love and truth. Amen.
