Bless the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! He has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing that comes from heaven. God chose us in Christ to be holy and blameless in God’s presence before the creation of the world.

Ephesians 1:3-4

I’m not the most athletic person. Ever since I was a kid, I did not have good balance or hand-eye coordination, let alone stamina. Whenever we played kickball or dodgeball in school, I was almost always picked last. You can imagine how never being chosen for a team makes someone question their value. It can make someone believe they are not very special. Have you ever felt like that? Maybe it was the first day in a new school, the first time you met new friends or feeling out of place in an everyday setting. If you have ever felt a little lonely or like you were not special, you are not alone.

But for those who believe in Jesus… you are chosen! You are special and loved. Not only that, God chose to offer the presence of Christ in the world through you. Because of Christ’s love in you, you can be love and encouragement to everyone! We all go through times when we don’t feel special. But remember, God Chose Us. No matter how we may be feeling, God has and will continue to choose us for God’s good story.

God of Creation, help me take time today to realize I am not alone. You created the little butterfly in the backyard and chose me to be a part of your beautiful creation. Help me to see the beauty in everything around me and help me to always strive to choose you, the way you have chosen me. Amen.
