Ordinary Time

Pause

Tell me the story of Jesus.
Write on my heart every word;
Tell me the story most precious,
Sweetest that ever was heard.

Fanny Crosby in "Tell me the story of Jesus" (1880)

Listen

God destined us to be his adopted children through Jesus Christ because of his love. This was according to his goodwill and plan and to honor his glorious grace that he has given to us freely through the Son whom he loves.

 Ephesians 1:5-6

Think

I love the movie Frozen 2. In the movie, Kristoff, Ana’s boyfriend, gets separated from Ana and sings “Lost in the Woods.” This song is a serious banger – I would recommend listening. Sometimes, when I try to think about my life, I feel “Lost in the Woods.” Facing the unknown can feel anxious and uncertain. It can be difficult to see what God’s plan is for me.

In the bridge of the song, Kristoff sings, “But I’ll wait, for a sign, that I’m your path, ’cause you are mine.” Kristoff waiting for that sign reminds me that sometimes on our faith journey, we spend time waiting for a sign from God. We won’t know what God wants us to do next. But a great first step is to sit still. Take a moment to wait, to take a breath, and believe that God knows your path and God destined it for good.

Pray

God of Understanding, help me remember today that no matter how lost I may feel, I can rest in the assurance of your good plan for me. While I may not be able to hear you at first, help me to be able to sit and wait for your sign. You have destined us for good; help me to remember that today. Amen.
