Ordinary Time
Jesus says to us, “Come to me, all you who are struggling hard and carrying heavy loads and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
What are you carrying that you need to unload?
Imagine that you are holding it in your hands. In your mind, place what you are holding into the strong, scarred hands of Jesus.
Trust that he loves you and wants to carry it for you.
He replied, “Let’s head in the other direction, to the nearby villages, so that I can preach there too. That’s why I’ve come.” He traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and throwing out demons.
Mark 1:38-39
Have you ever wondered “why am I here?” We all ask ourselves this at some point in our lives or possibly at various times throughout our lives. We want, even need, to believe we’re on this earth for a reason. I know I want to believe I’m making a difference in this world.
In today’s passage, Jesus leads his disciples to new areas to share the good news. Jesus says to them and to us, “That’s why I’ve come.” Jesus knew he was sent to share the life-changing good news of God’s love to a broken world. He introduced the world to a kingdom reality where love, justice, forgiveness, and peace reign.
Jesus’ last recorded words on earth give us purpose. We are to make disciples, followers, of Christ as we live out the good news each day loving neighbors, forgiving enemies, and standing up for justice. We might be nurses, fathers, teachers, pastors, mothers, engineers, or students, but our purpose is the same – share God’s love with the world. You will make a difference.

Lord, thank you for calling me your beloved child. May I find your purpose for my life today as I seek to love, forgive, and extend grace to those I meet along the way. Amen.
Go, believing in the power of the good news to restore, heal, forgive, and bring peace.
Jesus says: “I have said these things so that you will have peace in me. In the world you have distress. But be encouraged! I have conquered the world.” (John 16:33)
