Following the Star
As we behold the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces, we are being transformed to reflect God’s image more and more. This transformation is a work of the Spirit, moving us from one degree of glory to another.
Paraphrase of 2 Corinthians 3:18
Each year his parents went to Jerusalem for the Passover Festival. When he was 12 years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to their custom. After the festival was over, they were returning home, but the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents didn’t know it. Supposing that he was among their band of travelers, they journeyed on for a full day while looking for him among their family and friends. When they didn’t find Jesus, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him. After three days they found him in the temple. He was sitting among the teachers, listening to them and putting questions to them. Everyone who heard him was amazed by his understanding and his answers.
Luke 2:41-47
At just twelve years old, Jesus was already showing what it means to grow in God. While his parents searched for him, he was in the temple, asking questions and learning from the teachers. Even though he was the son of God, Jesus took time to grow in wisdom and deepen his understanding of God’s word.
This story reminds us that growing in Jesus means staying curious and seeking to learn more about God. It’s okay to ask questions about your faith, dig into scripture, and spend time with people who can help you grow. Like Jesus, prioritize time in God’s presence—whether that’s at church, youth group, or during your personal prayer time.
Spiritual growth doesn’t happen all at once. It’s a journey of listening, asking, and learning, just like Jesus modeled.

Question to Ponder:
What step can you take today to grow in wisdom and deepen your faith?
Keep me curious, oh Lord. Keep me always seeking after you and your ways. One way I want to be more like you is…
Amen.
God chose us in advance to be shaped into the likeness of God’s Son, so that Jesus would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
