Following the Star
As we behold the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces, we are being transformed to reflect God’s image more and more. This transformation is a work of the Spirit, moving us from one degree of glory to another.
Paraphrase of 2 Corinthians 3:18
Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord from heaven! Praise God on the heights! Praise God, all of you who are his messengers! Praise God, all of you who comprise his heavenly forces! Sun and moon, praise God! All of you bright stars, praise God! You highest heaven, praise God! Do the same, you waters that are above the sky! Let all of these praise the Lord’s name because God gave the command and they were created! God set them in place always and forever. God made a law that will not be broken.
Psalm 148:1-6
Psalm 148 is like a giant choir made up of everything God has created, from the stars in the sky to the oceans and mountains. Even angels and heavenly beings join in! This psalm reminds us that God made everything with a purpose: to bring God praise.
When we grow in Jesus, we’re joining that amazing chorus, which can include the actual making of sounds like birds or whales, but also can include other kinds of beauty. For example, think about how the stars shine without saying a word.
In the same way, when we grow closer to Jesus, our lives reflect God’s love, and we join in the amazing chorus. Every kind word, every act of forgiveness, and every prayer we pray adds to the chorus of praise. Growing in Jesus isn’t about being perfect. It is about trusting God to work in us so that we might grow more into the image and likeness of Jesus.

Question to Ponder:
What gifts and talents can you contribute to God’s kingdom?
Lord, help me reflect your glory and make a joyful noise as part of your chorus.
One way I can do that is…
Amen.
God chose us in advance to be shaped into the likeness of God’s Son, so that Jesus would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
