Journey to the Cross

Pause

To be touched, helped, lifted up along the way. To be made whole.

Everyone longs for these things, especially in seasons of darkness and self-doubt.

God’s intent is that all the world will be mended—every nation, every person. Let that healing begin now in you.

Listen

For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Live as children of light—for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true.

Ephesians 5:8–9

Think

My one-year-old daughter delights in music. “This Little Light of Mine” became a favorite months ago. We showed her the way to hold her “light” and we sing with her. It took her a while to get the basic idea. Now the joy my daughter exudes in hearing that song and moving her index finger from side to side is contagious. It can brighten the dreariest of days. There is no way she can fully comprehend the meaning of that song, but she teaches me a lot about living as a child of light.

I wonder if the process of spiritual healing starts in a similar way. Once we realize that we don’t have to see the entire road ahead, we can take the first steps of the journey, trusting that God will light our way as we go along.

Pray

God, help me to trust that your light will lead me, even if I don’t completely understand the journey. Guide me as I step forward in faith. Amen.

Go

Go now with a willingness to see things as they are,
And imagine the world as it could be.

We all have a story to tell
And experiences that shape what we see.

But there is healing in the truth God brings
And enough light to see just ahead,
For God is already in the place where you are going.
