Ordinary Time

Pause

Listen. Do you hear it? The Spirit is inviting you into God’s Story.

Listen

The voice said to me: Human one, stand on your feet, and I’ll speak to you. As he spoke to me, a wind came to me and stood me on my feet, and I heard someone addressing me. He said to me: Human one, I’m sending you to the Israelites, a traitorous and rebellious people. They and their ancestors have been rebelling against me to this very day. I’m sending you to their hardheaded and hard-hearted descendants, and you will say to them: The Lord God proclaims. Whether they listen or whether they refuse, since they are a household of rebels, they will know that a prophet has been among them.

Ezekiel 2:1-5

Think

When I felt called by God into full-time ministry, I was not quite sure what the outcome would be. I was nervous that the call was too great or too daunting for me to take on. I was scared it would be too hard, too difficult to answer on my own. But the comforting part of difficult calls on our lives is that we are not alone.

As the Spirit was with Ezekiel in his call, so the Spirit of God is with us as we hear the call and respond. The call may seem impossible, we may feel inadequate, but God is with us and guiding us each step of the way. God calls people to hard things. But we find peace in knowing that God is with us in these difficult spaces, carrying burdens with us and walking alongside us throughout the story. Will you trust God, the author of life?
