Ordinary Time

Pause

Listen. Do you hear it? The Spirit is inviting you into God’s Story.

Listen

I raise my eyes to you— you who rule heaven. Just as the eyes of servants attend to their masters’ hand, just as the eyes of a female servant attend to her mistress’ hand— that’s how our eyes attend to the Lord our God until he has mercy on us.

Psalm 123:1-2

Think

Though independent in direct function, each of our senses work together each day to help us see, hear, taste, feel, and smell. What we cast our gaze upon will affect what we hear, and vice versa. What we hear and what we see will also affect how we feel and how we live.

The psalmist casts their gaze toward God. Looking to God helps the psalmist hear God’s voice, God’s call. Upon what do you cast your gaze? Is it toward God’s voice or your own? Are you using all of your senses to hear God? When we look to God, we can better hear God’s calling for our lives and respond faithfully. God wants us to be a part of the greater story that is being written for our lives and the whole world.
