Ordinary Time
Praise, purpose, and presence are the building blocks of finding a home in God.
What is there to praise God for today?
What is one way you can live into God’s purpose for you?
Where is God’s presence most clear to you?
The earth has yielded its harvest. God blesses us—our God blesses us! Let God continue to bless us; let the far ends of the earth honor him.
Psalm 67:6-7
The phrase “the grass is always greener on the other side” is meant as a warning to those of us who look at what others have and think it is better. It can be very hard to feel grateful for what God blesses us with when others have more prosperous lives. However, when we are in a place long enough to grow deep roots and pay attention to all that grows around us, we can see God’s blessings bloom.
Blessings are present in the place we are called to be, called to inhabit, and our praise to God can remind us of that. When we are tempted to focus on what others have and to feel envious of them, may we stop and praise God for what we have. Taking time to give thanks and praise to God shifts our focus and reminds us of who God is and how God is with us right where we are.

Question to Ponder:
What is one blessing you have received from a particular place that you would not have experienced had you never been there?
God of this place, bless my community. Give me eyes to see and ears to hear all that you do here, and may my mouth never cease to give you praise. Today I praise you for…
Amen.
Whatever you encounter today, remember that your home is always in God.
