Ordinary Time
Pray a breath prayer, silently repeating the following phrases from Psalm 46 with each deep breath. (Repeat for as long as you like, but aim for at least 4-5 times.)
Breathe in: āBe still and knowā
Breathe out: āthat I am God.ā
Let my whole beingĀ bless theĀ Lord! Lord my God, how fantastic you are! You are clothed in glory and grandeur! You wear light like a robe; you open the skies like a curtain. You build your lofty house on the waters;Ā you make the clouds your chariot, going around on the wings of the wind.
Psalm 104:1-3
Whether itās admiring soft clouds in a clear blue daytime sky or staring up at a night sky full of stars, Iāve always felt close to God when I look at the sky. Open and all-encompassing, whether youāre looking up from a city street or a quieter spot in nature, what floats above us is a reminder that we are part of something bigger than ourselves, bigger than what we can see at any given moment. God, too, is beyond any one description we could come up with.
Todayās scripture ends with God āgoing around on the wings of the wind.ā In Hebrew, the original language of the Psalms, the word for wind and spirit is the same. We canāt see wind as much as we can see what it does, just like we canāt completely describe God, but God is still everywhere. So next time you look up and notice something rustling in the breeze, may you feel the Spirit of God with you.

Question to Ponder:
If someone asked you to describe God, what would you say?
Expansive God, thank you for the infinite ways you move throughout creation and in my life. Help me to notice you wherever I go, even when human words cannot fully describe you.
Amen.
God be the love to search and keep me
God be the prayer to move my voice
God be the strength to now uphold me

O Christ, surround me
