God can.

God will.

God does.

Listen

Those who look to God will shine; their faces are never ashamed. This suffering person cried out: theĀ Lord listened and saved him from every trouble. On every side, theĀ Lordā€™s messenger protects those who honor God; and he delivers them. Taste and see how good theĀ Lord is! The one who takes refuge in him is truly happy!

Psalm 34:5-8

Think

As I watched the 2024 Olympics, I was happy to hear the words of 200-meter gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone say,Ā ā€œI credit God for everything I do. He’s given me a gift, he’s given me momentum.ā€Ā Her excitement was palpable. It went beyond winning an Olympic medal. Her face radiated joy and I, from a distance, could see it. It reminded me of my happiness when I decided to allow God to dwell in my heart. And you, do you remember how you felt when you decided to follow God?

Today’s reading assures us that when we trust in God, we are filled with joy, we are heard and protected. Throughout the text, the psalmist invites all people to taste how good God is and the happiness God provides. God can make us happy, we just have to trust.

Question to Ponder:

How can you give credit to God for good things in your life?

Pray

God who calls me to share your power with others, help me so that I may share that in you we find happiness.

Amen.

Go

Glory to God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work within us.
