Ordinary Time
To live in relationship with God is to open my heart every day to God’s wisdom, love, and Spirit, allowing God to transform my life.
Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name throughout the earth! You made your glory higher than heaven!
When I look up at your skies, at what your fingers made—the moon and the stars that you set firmly in place—what are human beings that you think about them; what are human beings that you pay attention to them?
Psalm 8:1, 3-4
As a child, I was always fascinated by the immensity of the sea and how it seemed to join the sky on the horizon. I love to think about how this picture of the sea is like the immensity, greatness, and sovereignty of God. God’s glory cannot be measured and goes beyond what we can see or imagine. It is something that our finite minds cannot understand. That is why we are amazed and wonder: how is it possible that such a great God, creator of the universe, has taken an interest in me? How is it that the same God who created the immensity of the sea, the heavens, and the mountains has created me in God’s own image and likeness?
No doubt we have a special place in God’s heart. But that love is not revealed only through creation nor only in the creation of the human being, but it is an active and personal love that seeks a close relationship with us.

Question to Ponder:
In what ways do I experience God’s active and personal love on a daily basis?
God, help me to feel your love and closeness every time I contemplate your creation and every time I remember that I am created in your image. Amen.
