“I have revealed your name to the people you gave me from this world. They were yours and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. This is because I gave them the words that you gave me, and they received them. They truly understood that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me.”

John 17:6-8

We are Jesus’ people, we belong to God, and God has given us everything. That’s something we all long for – a sense of belonging, to know that we are in just the right place as we should be. We belong to God.

To belong is to be part of a community, to be in relationship with each other. Relationships are not without requirement. Our relationship with God, our belonging to God, means that we are to live the way God calls us to, the way of love.

This is the truth that God sent Jesus to share with us. We belong to God’s love and God’s love belongs to us. We are responsible for sharing this love and for sharing this truth with all those who we are in relationship with.

Generous God, all that I have and all that I am is yours. Give me the truth of your love so that I might share that truth with all who I meet. You are the one to whom I belong. Amen.

God’s love for the world is worthy of praise.

Send me out into the world today to glorify God in all that I say and all that I do.
