Journey to the Cross

Pause

“Grace is the gift of God’s presence within us, calling us to be whole.”

– attributed to Henri Nouwen

Listen

Nicodemus said, “How are these things possible?”

Jesus answered, “You are a teacher of Israel and you don’t know these things? I assure you that we speak about what we know and testify about what we have seen, but you don’t receive our testimony. If I have told you about earthly things and you don’t believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?

John 3:9-12

Think

Nicodemus struggled to understand what Jesus was telling him. Sometimes we do too. Grace can be hard to accept because it does not fit neatly into our plans or expectations. We like certainty and clear answers. Yet Jesus invites us into trust.

Accepting grace means letting go of the need to figure everything out. It means believing that God’s love is real, even when it feels mysterious. We are invited to receive what we cannot fully explain. Faith is not about having all the answers. It is about trusting the one who holds us. When we let go of our need to understand everything, we make space for grace to take root. And in that space, we begin to see with new eyes.

Question to Ponder:

Why is it sometimes hard to trust?

Pray

Loving God, help me trust you when I do not understand. Teach me to receive your grace with an open heart. One area of my life where I need to trust you is…

Guide me in faith. Amen.

Go

Go into this day trusting that God’s grace surrounds you, goes before you, and lives within you. Receive it and share it freely.
