Following the Star

Pause

Breathe. Take in some deep grounding breaths. Pull your shoulders back, feel the ground beneath you. Once you have settled, take one more deep breath saying or thinking:

INHALE: Holding on to joy doesn’t mean I am always happy.

EXHALE: It means I will not be overcome by despair.

Listen

You will draw water with joy from the springs of salvation. And you will say on that day: Thank the Lord; call on God’s name; proclaim God’s deeds among the peoples; declare that God’s name is exalted.”

Isaiah 12:3-4

Think

I have been known to be a loudmouth. I tend to be dramatic and exuberant when it comes to things that make me happy. I love a good operatic happy birthday, glitter, and pretty much anything celebratory. I am fond of a good proclamation.

I wonder what it would look like if we all were more intentional about the ways we proclaim God’s good deeds among us? What would be on your list? Christ came to give us good news. GOOD NEWS! Everyone needs good news as much as we need water. Everyone needs someone to call when they are going through a complicated moment, and thankfully, we can always call on God’s name. As those who follow Christ, we know first-hand that there is good news to share. So I am challenging us all. Start some proclaiming. Get dramatic, make sure people hear it and understand there is still good news to hear and share.

Question to Ponder:

What good news can you share with others today?

Pray

God of good news, thank you for sending Jesus to give us good news. Help me to remember that this news is for all people, not to keep to myself. Help me imagine new ways to proclaim this good news through how I show up in the world. May I be a conduit of your good news the world needs. Amen.

Go

You are the God of justice

You are the God who sees

You are the God who heals and

Who loves the world through me

We believe our love can change things

We will not live silently

You are the God of justice

You are the God who sees

You oh Lord are with us

We will not be afraid
