Following the Star

Pause

This Advent,

Let us remember: The Lord will continue to do great things for us.

Let us testify to the Light that is God.

Let us hold on to what is good, even when nothing around us makes any sense.

Let us cultivate joy.

Listen

A man named John was sent from God. He came as a witness to testify concerning the light, so that through him everyone would believe in the light. He himself wasn’t the light, but his mission was to testify concerning the light.

John 1:6-8

Think

When there is so much uncertainty around us, it is easy to dwell in negative thoughts or emotions. We may even forget what we are called to do. We forget who has sent us. Like John, we are called as witnesses to testify to the light. But how do we do this when we are hurting?

That joy we have been talking about for the past few days? This is when it nourishes and sustains us. The light is Jesus, and it is eternal, and it is for us. It is in and through our most difficult moments that we find the courage to testify.

Who is someone you trust that you could have joyful conversations with? Finding ways to care for ourselves also allows us to share the light. We must be disciplined in practicing joy, so that we are able to share it with others.

Pray

Lord, as you called John to testify to the light, let me authentically do the same in my life. Walk with me, teach me to love like you do, so that I may allow others to see you. Amen.
