Following the Star

Pause

This Advent,

Let us remember: The Lord will continue to do great things for us.

Let us testify to the Light that is God.

Let us hold on to what is good, even when nothing around us makes any sense.

Let us cultivate joy.

Listen

Now, may the God of peace himself cause you to be completely dedicated to him; and may your spirit, soul, and body be kept intact and blameless at our Lord Jesus Christ’s coming. The one who is calling you is faithful and will do this.

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

Think

And this is our joy! A prayer that encompasses the wholeness of our lives – spirit, body, and soul. God is for us. God, who has called us, is faithful. And God will do all these things for us.

As we wrap up this week, welcome this prayer. Welcome the wholeness and peace and joy that God grants us.

Joy is a gift to us, but this gift requires that we share it with all. When we share our joy, then at times when things are not going as we wished they were, others can hold the joy for us. Sharing joy allows us to return to and find the joy in each other when we need it most, as we delight in the goodness of God’s eternal light.

Pray

God, you have called us faithful. You have believed in us; teach us to do the same for ourselves. Let me share my joy in your light with others. Amen.
