Following the Star

Pause

Consider this –

You are always near to the source of joy.
You are always near to the source of life.
You are always near to the source of love.

Breathe in God’s presence and Spirit right now.

Listen

Be glad in the Lord always! Again I say, be glad! Let your gentleness show in your treatment of all people. The Lord is near.

Philippians 4:4-5

Think

Sometimes it is hard to rejoice or be glad when the circumstances of your life are difficult. When you read these words calling you to be glad in the Lord always, it may help to realize that the instructions are not necessarily to be glad about the things that are tough. Rather, focus your joy in the Lord.

Find gladness in the heart of God who never changes. It is like turning to a trusted friend or a loving family member who always makes you feel good about yourself. No matter whatever else is going on right now, be glad that the Lord is on your side, cheering you on through thick and thin.

When you are centered in that assurance it is easier to treat others from that wellspring of affirmation and love.

Pray

God, no matter whatever else is going on right now, your love and delight in me are constant.

May I find joy and strength in the assurance that you are directing beams of your light and love my way.

Amen.

Go

“God is closer to me than I am to myself.” (St. Augustine in Confessions)

Rest for a moment, as it were, in the curve of God’s smile.

Rise up, renewed by God’s love.
