Following the Star
Consider this –
You are always near to the source of joy.
You are always near to the source of life.
You are always near to the source of love.
Breathe in God’s presence and Spirit right now.
“God is indeed my salvation; I will trust and won’t be afraid.
Yah, the Lord, is my strength and my shield; he has become my salvation.”
Isaiah 12:2
What does it mean to say that “God is my salvation?” In one sense, you might mean that God has provided a way for you to be redeemed from the consequences of evil and offered you the hope of eternal life. And that may well be true. But there is more.
Think of “salvation” more in terms of “rescue.” How has God rescued you from dire circumstances in the past? How does God rescue you from your worst self? How does God piece together random situations in order to save you and this world from an otherwise horrible outcome?
Sometimes God “saves” you from dire circumstances by preventing you from going that direction in the first place! No matter what your story may be, you can join your voice with that of the prophet in declaring, “God is indeed my salvation; I will trust and won’t be afraid.”

Thank you, God, for saving me not only from the things of which I am aware, but also for the many ways you have diverted me from catastrophe without me even knowing it.
Be my rescue and my salvation today. Guide my steps and my thoughts to joy in you.
Amen.
“God is closer to me than I am to myself.” (St. Augustine in Confessions)
Rest for a moment, as it were, in the curve of God’s smile.
Rise up, renewed by God’s love.
