Ordinary Time
Are you ready to dive into the depths of God’s presence?
While Jesus and his disciples were traveling, Jesus entered a village where a woman named Martha welcomed him as a guest. She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his message. By contrast, Martha was preoccupied with getting everything ready for their meal. So Martha came to him and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to prepare the table all by myself? Tell her to help me.”
The Lord answered, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things. One thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the better part. It won’t be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:38-42
Sometimes I feel like I have so many things to do, and I don’t know how to handle it all. I get frustrated and end up not enjoying what I do. I imagine the same thing has happened to you. It is so easy for us to focus on all the things that need to be done and what must be accomplished that we lose sight of what is most important.
The highest priority in our lives should be to choose the better part, as Mary did: to learn from Jesus so that we can imitate him. It is love and devotion to Jesus that should be our priority over everything else. We are disciples of Jesus, and he is our teacher. That’s the most important thing! Enjoy the process of learning from and following Jesus.

Question to Ponder:
What things do you imitate in Jesus?
God, help us to find communion with you and with those who follow you so that we can learn and become like you. May we dive into your word, communion, and prayer to grow in spirit and help others.
