Pause

The world needs light. The world needs hope. The world needs selflessness. The world needs equality.

The world needs us to show how Christ walked with those that are oppressed and unique, how Christ prayed for all people, and how Christ served humbly without recognition.

Let us shine with the light of Christ.

Listen

Sing to the Lord a new song! Sing to the Lord, all the earth! Sing to the Lord! Bless his name! Share the news of his saving work every single day!

Psalm 96:1-2

Think

Have you ever changed something that you were comfortable doing to a new way of doing something? If so, there was probably a time when you wished you could just keep it the same old way. Change is hard. However, there are also those times when you just feel like you need something new in your life. Those are the times that help us gain the momentum to change.

The psalmist says to sing a “new song.” But the new song we are supposed to sing is not just the words of the psalm itself. These verses call us to sing a new song with our whole lives. With our whole lives, we sing God’s agenda of newness and change for us.

God’s agenda for our lives looks different from our own agendas. We’d be happy to just keep things the way they are. The newness can be exciting, scary, and terrifying at times, but God is always creating, recreating, renewing, and cultivating newness in your life that will continue to surprise you when you least expect it.

Pray

God of newness, create in me an open heart and mind, so that I would accept your new song of change and your agenda for my life to take place. Amen.

Go

Go, sharing your faith with words and deeds.

Go, living in this dark world, and may you be the light.

Go, serving others with humility and grace as Christ did.

And go, singing words of praise each and every day.
