Pause

The world needs light. The world needs hope. The world needs selflessness. The world needs equality.

The world needs us to show how Christ walked with those that are oppressed and unique, how Christ prayed for all people, and how Christ served humbly without recognition.

Let us shine with the light of Christ.

Listen

Instead, regard Christ as holy in your hearts. Whenever anyone asks you to speak of your hope, be ready to defend it. Yet do this with respectful humility, maintaining a good conscience.

1 Peter 3:15-16a

Think

When I was in high school, we had to share our testimonies, and I always felt like mine was not good enough to share because it didn’t have some tragic element or a dramatic “come-to-Jesus” moment. It wasn’t until after college that I realized that my testimony – even though it isn’t dramatic – is just as important as others’. My story is my story, and no one can take that away from me.

When you speak about your faith, are you true to your story? Or do you try to tell a story that sounds like someone else’s? When you offer up your story, do so with humility, grace, and compassion. When people ask you questions about your faith, answer those with respect and understanding, so that they will feel free to ask more questions.

And never let someone tell you that your story and your faith are wrong or unimportant. Your relationship with Christ is an incredible part of your life journey, and when you let that light shine, it can be the catalyst to inspire others in their life journeys.

Pray

Lord, I pray for courage, strength, and grace. Help me realize that it is ok for me to be me. Amen.

Go

Go, sharing your faith with words and deeds.

Go, living in this dark world, and may you be the light.

Go, serving others with humility and grace as Christ did.

And go, singing words of praise each and every day.
