Journey to the Cross
We can connect with God through our breathing.
Slowly breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Do this a few times.
God is with you.
The Lord is my light and my salvation. Should I fear anyone? The Lord is a fortress protecting my life. Should I be frightened of anything? When evildoers come at me trying to eat me up—it’s they, my foes and my enemies, who stumble and fall!
Psalm 27:1-2
Today’s psalm invites us to encounter God through several different images. God is a light, showing us the way. God is a fortress, a safe place for us. What is it like to be with a God who protects you and keeps you safe? I find strength and encouragement in these images of God. Knowing God is always there as a light and a fortress helps me keep going when circumstances are uncertain or difficult.
Can you think of any times in your life where God has done this for you—where you’ve felt God’s presence as a light or a fortress? How have you experienced God as you navigated the tough moments of your life? In times where we’re scared or it feels dark, God is still there, ready to light our way and keep us safe.

Question to Ponder:
Have you ever been like a light or a fortress for someone else and helped them to feel safe?
God of light and love, help me to remember you are with me in good times and in hard times. Help me in turn to shine your light and love to all around me.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Trust can take a long time to build. Where do you want to put your trust today?
